With much to see, from otters to the iconic golden eagle, our local area is a paradise for photographers.
Many other interests including geological, caving, archaeological and historical, can be pursued in this locality.
Elgol (8 miles from Torrin) boat trips are strongly recommended as an excellent day out, visit Loch Coruisk deep in the Cuillin Mountains or some of the islands of the Inner Hebrides, with the possibility of sightings of dolphins, porpoises, whales or basking sharks amid dramatic scenery.

The Old Man of Storr is situated in the north of the Isle of Skye in the Trotternish area, an hours drive from Skye Mountain Cottage. Famous for its magnificent scenery and views, the Old Man of Storr is a popular hotspot for hikers, hill walkers and photographers. The Old Man is a large standing formation of rock part of the Trotternish ridge.

Portree Harbour

Portree is situated off the Sound of Raasay. Portree harbour has a sheltered deep water anchorage which provides good shelter from all winds. Portree has a diverse shipping clientele and is a popular destination for cruise liners. During the summer months cruise liners land their passengers. The harbour is also home to a flourishing fishing fleet and a busy salmon farming industry.
